I am getting ready to have yet another miscarriage. I hate this.
So my dr. wants me to come in Monday again for more bloodwork to see if something looks fishy to suspect an ectopic pg. Why wouldn't they just have me come in for an u/s??
Those of you that have had ectopic..what were the signs? Did you know before it became an emergency?
I am so scared and so done with all of this
Re: Ectopic questions
I'm very sorry for your loss.
I had an e/p in the past so I'm now at a higer risk for another one. I was given the methotrexate shot back in '07 but unfortuntely still had to have surgery and lost my tube. My one sympton was a horrible pain I had every time I stood up, I was doubling over because that's how bad it was.
Yesterday I was given the shot (they did an u/s, just like before, to make sure they didn't see the pregnancy somewhere else) and on Monday we'll do more bw to make sure my hcg is going down.
i had an ectopic last year. often bloodwork is much more telling in diagnosing an e/p since your numbers have to be at a certain level to see anything on u/s. not sure how far along you are...
i knew about the e/p before it became an emergency because i had one-sided pain so i called the dr. & went in for an u/s (we had already expected an e/p since my #s were awful). we could see the baby really easily (i think it even had a hb). was immediately given methotrexate shots which took care of it. i did not need surgery.
I am sorry for your loss. hope this helps.
I had gotten surgery for my ectopic pregnancy the first week of November. My numbers were watched closely and they were acting tricky- Doubling at times and then dropping. The constant symptom that I had was that I was bleeding the whole time. The last couple weeks I had cramping and thought I miscarried naturally twice due to the amount of blood. PS- my doctor sucked.
I hope that this is not the case for you. Please know that I am thinking of you and there is a lot of support here for you!
I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this.
In Sept I found out that had a very rare type of ectopic (less than 2% were my type). Bloodwork was the telling factor. Just after I found out I was pregnant, in early August I began bleeding. I bled off and on almost 3 weeks . In my 8th week,I was told that it was a natural m/c after my blood work did not double and began to decline. They called for expectant management. I knew something else was going on and something was just not right!
At a follow up appointment a week later my levels tripled and I was sent for an U/S- nothing seen. Sent for Bloodwork again, several times over the next week, levels went up, but not signficantly. Had yet another U/S a week later, unable to see anything again.
Doc scheduled me for D &C , but also chose to go in laproscopic for a look prior because she felt that"something just wasn't right". It was pressed against the top of my uterus near my abdomen, where U/S could not see. I woke up from a major surgery, when I expected to just have the D/C. But my doctor's instincts saved me-literally, she said I was hours from rupture. I was upset about the amount of time it took. By the time I went for this I was almost 12 weeks. It took almost a month to get to that answer.
I think what I have learned from this is that the discovery of an ectopic is all the pieces of a puzzle adding up to the "possibility". Trust your gut, have confidence in your doc (if you don't get a 2nd ) and tell your doctor anything that concerns you.
Best of luck and I am thinking of you.
