Is it normal that DD is still sleeping like a newborn?

She is awake for an hour, then wants to sleep, wakes up, eats, is awake for an hour, then sleeps again...and so on and so on.  She doesn't have a set schedule of naps yet.  I thought for sure she would be on some kind of schedule by now.  The only thing she does regularly is wake up at 9AM.

  • Funny you should mention "sleeping like a newborn" as my newborn never slept that well! It was one of the many myths I believed until I actually had a kid. So I'm kinda jealous of ya!

That said, I read somewhere that babies dont establish a nap schedule until at least 3 mo of age, and sometimes a little later than that even.

  • At 2 1/2 months, ds was going down for bed at 10:00, nursing at 5:00am and then getting up at 9:00am. This being said, he did not have an actual nap routine until at least 3 1/2 months. Naps were very hard for him (and us) at first, but we finally got through it. We would have to literally try and keep him awake to establish his nap routine.

  • DD was like that.  Slept constantly for months.  She grew out of it but not for a good few months.
