TTC After a Loss

Bleeding after a D & C

Hi ladies,

Quick question...I had a D and C last Friday, I had a little bit of spotting and old blood over the weekend, but as the week went on (including today) I am having bright red blood. Is this normal?? Need to wear a pad where last week a liner was fine. I have no cramping or fever, so I don't think it is anything serious just wondering how long I am going to have this awful reminder!

 Thank you!

Re: Bleeding after a D & C

  • I had off and on bleeding for about a week after mine but then it tapered off.

I am so sorry for your loss too.  The girls on here are all amazing!!  ((hugs)).  I hope you stop bleeding soon

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.  I had bleeding/spotting for 16 days - it stopped for 2 days in the middle.  It's probably normal, but if it gets heavier or if you have cramping, fever, etc. then call your doctor.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. I bled for about 10days on/off with my 2nd D&C..
  • I bled pretty bright red for about two weeks straight.... well, maybe even a bit longer like 16 days or so. So sorry for your loss.

  • Thank you for getting back to me. My first loss I had a natural m/c but this time I had to have a D and C. Sorry for all of your losses and may we all get some good luck soon!!
  • Aside from the first day, I only had spotting for about 3 or 4 days, and then all the sudden it was bright red.  I bled for about 2wks and then stopped.  I am the exception on this next part - I've bled pretty much off and off since (it's been 7 weeks).  My doc thinks that my uterus and cerivx are just super sensitive and this isn't normal for most women.  Lucky me!

I'm so sorry for you loss, but what your experiencing sounds normal.  Rule of thumb is, as long as you're not soaking more than a pad an hour, you're okay.

  • My doctor said I might bleed for up to two weeks after.    I spotted starting on day 6, then I had red blood on days 9 and 11, then I spotted again until day 17.  I ovulated on day 19, so if you are trying or avoiding, be aware that you might ovulate even if you are still spotting.

  • I had bleeding for about 10 days.  It was kind of heavy the first 2 days, then tapered off to spotting, then got a little heaver again, then spotting, then stopped.  Remember your body is trying to recover and is in a bit of shock right now.  I hope things get better for you soon!
