My DS is now 6 1/2 weeks old, and he does not sleep in his crib. Actually he's not sleeping much at night at all. Currently, he sleeps in his bouncer on our bed between us. He sometimes sleeps on my or DH's chest after eating. I've tried putting him in his crib when he starts to get sleepy but he will not shut his eyes in his crib. Eventually, he'll just start screaming. He'll lay in there and look around for a few minutes, but that's it. I want to try getting him into the habit of sleeping in his crib. Please tell me we're not the only ones going through this.....
Re: Anyone else's LO not sleeping in crib?
Mine sleeps in our bed or her pack n play next to the bed. I feed her in the side lying position when she wakes up at night and she falls right back to sleep.
Are you BFing or FFing?
BTW how can he sleep in a boucer IN your bed? Wouldnt the softness of the bed make the bouncer wobbly and isnt that quite high up above your heads?
Just try and keep it as quiet as possible when you feed at night and put him in his crib after he's been asleep for a while. Mine will sleep in her crib/pack n play if shes been asleep for a little while. If she has just fallen asleep, she'll wake right up when put down.
My son wouldnt sleep in his pack n play or crib at first so we got a secure sleeper, and let him sleep in the bed with us. I did this from the time he was three weeks until 7 weeks and then moved the secure sleeper to the pack n play. I think he liked being so close to us, and got used to the sleeper, so when i moved him in the sleeper to the pack n play it wasnt a completely new environment.
Also i still have the pack n play in the room with us but not right next to the bed. I figure i can eventually switch like i did with the pnp and take him out of the secure sleeper but still have him in the pnp. That way when he is 6 months (or whenever I feel able to not have him right there lol) I can move him to the crib in the other room and he is used to not being "on his own".
She pretty much only sleeps in the swing in our room. I tried to put her in her crib last Friday night and she slept for about 30 mins. Our first DD slept in our room until about 3.5 months. I'm not worried about it until closer to 4 months. I agree sleep is most important at this point!
