When I was growing up we used to eat between 2-3pm because my father and 2 uncles had to work 3rd shift on thanksgiving. That time just kinda stuck. So we are eating at 3pm today.

If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me. For I must be traveling on now. Because there are too many places I've got to see. -Allen Collins & Ronnie VanZant

In years past, we've always "planned" to eat at 2, but in reality we would get there at two (usually one of my niece's, brother-in-laws, etc) and there would be a ton of appetizers. Everyone just stood around and nibble on those for about an hour or so. Then they would start mashing the potatoes, making the gravey and we'd actually EAT around 4.
Well, no one in the family called this year so we are having our own Thanksgiving at noon. My oldest DS wants to go to his fiance's house and eat...that is at 5. He doesn't want to be completely stuffed...so we said we'd early this year. (I will not do this every year just to accomodate his fiance). The rest of us will have left-overs and turkey sandwiches at 6.
