I've had a really bad couple of days dealing with my m/c. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Our immediate families are each several hours away (mine 6, his 3.5), and my DH volunteered to work so he could get more time around Christmas and our anniversary off.
His aunts are holding a Thanksgiving lunch at his grandpa's house (~30 min away) tomorrow that I was originally planning on attending alone, but now I'm thinking I just want to stay home.
In staying home, I've got a few mixed feelings- cook a Thanksgiving feast for two, and have it after DH gets home from work? Or just skip Thanksgiving?
I think I'm going to do the dinner for 2 and look for some shortcuts at the store.
Re: Thanksgiving- what to do?
Order in! Just because it's Thanksgiving doesn't mean that you need to have turkey. Just spend quality time with your hubby and some paper plates (less clean up!) I should add that my cooking skills to not go beyond boxes and the freezer
Spend as much time as you can with your DH! I have found that as long as I have time with my DH, I do much better!
Hope you make the right decision for you! Huggers!
I decided to cook a Thanksgiving meal. We got a 4 pound turkey breast, and I've got it soaking in brine in the fridge. I've already got the cornbread made for the dressing- I used a prepackaged mix so I wouldn't have to measure anything but milk. I made homemade cranberry orange relish/sauce, which is cooling right now.
Tomorrow I just have to cook the turkey, assemble the dressing, and make the potatoes (sweet and regular). Oh, and I have to make the gravy (from a mix) and let the rolls thaw and rise. We bought pies already made, so I don't have to bake.
As for decorating, I think I'm going to dress up our table a little.
Cooking is theraputic for me, so I'm actually getting excited about making my own Thanksgiving meal tomorrow.
