I have one and I LOVE it. I think it's the best thing ever. I only have one issue with mine, and it may just be that I haven't figured it out yet. But it doesn't seem to have a backlight. So when I'm reading in bed I have to have the light on in the room. Other than that, I can't say enough great things about it.
DH has one and loves it. I got it for him for our anniversary this year and he uses it daily. The only pain for me was having to buy the books since we go to the library fairly often, but DH doesn't get there as often or read as quickly as I do. Plus the books are way cheaper than the hardcover books he was buying b/c he couldn't wait for the next one in his series to come out in paperback or whatever. I think the new releases are like $10 and older books are even cheaper than that...
ETA - I don't think any have back-lights or maybe I misunderstood. You can buy the reading lamp that fits onto it somehow the same as a reading lamp that clips onto a book, you know? I was thinking about getting it for DH but he doesn't seem to mind it yet.
You may want to post this over on the Nest Book Club board (or check old posts- this has been a popular post lately)- there are a lot of nesties with the Kindle or the Sony Reader (and Barnes & Noble is coming out with the Nook in a couple of weeks).
I'm a library user- so from what I understand the Sony Reader is the only one that is compatible with library e-books (although I think the Kindle can do one of the library e-book formats).
The Kindle doesn't allow any sharing- whereas the Nook will allow ONE share (if the publisher allows it as well).
