Would you go in on a group daycare xmas gift?

My DD is in a daycare where she has contact with all the workers (10 people).  She is with some more than others, but they move around to different areas all day for crafts or music or gym etc, and sees all the teachers.  It is just alot of teachers to buy for.  They are all wonderful and she loves her daycare so I'd like to get them something nice.

I was thinking of putting notes in all the others kids buckets asking if people would like to donate towards a group gift- asking for $25 for full time students and $15 for part time students.  Then I would use the $$ to get them gift cards and put all the kids names on the cards.

WDYT?  Would you go for it?

  • Someone did this at our center last year and the problem was in the end not everyone contributed because a lot of people wanted to give gifts on their own.  So once the money was divided up the teachers each only got a small amount.  I think it's a great idea but this year if they do it at my school I am not participating.

I think its a good idea, but I dont think it would work out very well for the same reason that the PP mentioned.

  • DD attends a small neighborhood preschool with only 2 teachers.  It's tradition to collect money for a group gift and I intend to contribute.  However, I also plan to get some kind of classroom toy or supplies to give as a gift from DD.

  • That's how holiday gifts were handled in DD's classroom last year, and it worked beautifully- everyone contributed, and there was enough to get each teacher (4 total) a nice gift card plus a couple of classroom gifts as well. I wish someone would coordinate it this year, but I think there's just too many kids and teachers involved now that she's in a preschool room.
