I'm lucky enough to have my grandma's home-canned green beans from her garden. I cook them over low heat in chicken broth with onion, salt, and pepper, until they're really tender.

garlic butter with some parmesan is good.
Sautee some slivered almonds in butter, pour all that over the beans.
add a little raspberry vinaigrette and some dried cranberries
