WTF?

I need to call my health insurance provider. I lost my card. I need to order a new one. When looking up a number, all I can find is "call the member services number located on the back of your card." Gee, thanks. I don't know my ID number to sign up for an online account to order a new card. You'd think the number would be out there somewhere. It's not in any of my information I have, either.

Re: WTF?

  • Can't you just find your carrier online and get a number and go from there?
  • Doesn't your DH have a card you could get the number from? Or call HR and get it from there...

  • that sucks, if you don't have an EOB sitting around or a bill, then call your doc office and ask them for your ID #. Plus, we copy all patient cards, so they may have a copy of it and can tell you the number on the back. Good luck!
  • find one of your EOB's and call the billing #, they can transfer you or give you the #.  Or try the website, there should be a zillion #'s listed for various things, try one, if wrong they again can give you the correct one or transfer you.

ETA nevermind about the online bit - call the dr office to get the info, they should have a copy of the card in charts and have it on the computers.

  • I have an individual policy for myself, so I'm the only one with a card. I have statements, but none have phone numbers. I found a number for dental, so I called them and was able to get a number for the health in my state. It should be easier to find, though.
  • Can you get it from your doctor's office or the HR department at work?
  • Calling the DR office never occurred to me!
