I know Nate had Croup a few weeks ago. What were his symptoms? AT has a slight cough in the evenings but it isnt keeping him up, and he still ran a low temp last night so Im wondering if its turning into something more than the Vacc reaction. He has acted fine otherwise.

butting in -

Ben had croup.  His breathing was super rattle-y.  Like you could hear the fluid in his lungs percolating.  And the cough is unmistakable.  It's a barking cough - sounds like a seal.

ETA - and he was a miserable clingy mess.

Nate had what they call "stridor," which is this gasping sound they make when they breathe in.  He didn't do it all the time - mainly just if he started crying or if he was excited about something.  It sounded awful though and it meant that I didn't let him cry at all while he was sick.  The second he started crying, I came running!  I hated hearing that sound! 

Ditto the sound of the cough too.  I had heard that it sounded like a seal, but then I wasn't sure if that's what Nate sounded like.  So I googled it and found some sound clips online.  There's a good example of a cough & stridor here: https://www.health24.com/child/Cough/833-3456,11488.asp

Okay yeah I dont have aynthing to worry about! WOW! Sorry those little guys had to go through that....how heart breaking!

butting in too -- croup cough is so much different than a cough.  Like Speed said, the barking cough.  Its like nothing Ive ever heard before.

Are you back at work today?  Sorry AT doesn't feel good.  Eli has "the cough" right now too, but that's nothing new in our house.  He's never had the croup, thank goodness, but we are all to familiar with the pesky cough.  See if AT will take some honey.  Eli won't, but I hear it's the best.

Yeah Im back...he had a 99 fever last night bf bed and none this morning. So I guess Im just hoping for the best today and tomorrow. I hope its just the vaccination reaction...he doesnt have a rash but where he had the shot it raised and red....and that just happened on Monday.
