Multiples

I may have multiples... Please read story

Good Morning,

I'm not officially on this board (yet) but I had my first Dr appt yesterday.  From my last AF I would be 7 weeks.

First here is a little background. My last AF was October 5.  I was charting so I am almost 100% I OV that cycle when we concieved.  I have been feeling fine but my stomach is pretty big to be just 7 wks. I thought I was just bloated but my stomach is pretty hard. Basically I look about 3-4 months.

Ok... so we go to the Dr.  I tell him that I think I am too big, he just kind of blows it off.  Then he goes down and does what I assume is a routine check with his hands to feel around and stops and says.... "are you sure that was your last period".  I said yes.  He said either you are having twins or your 12 weeks along!  We were not able to get an u/s, I have to schedule it for next week.

Please share if you have a similar story.

  • Congrats on your BFP! Hope you can get an u/s early next week so you can get some answers.

Not to scare you, but when I was 6 weeks pg with a singleton, I measured 12 weeks. Turns out I had a fibroid. This is something they'll see on u/s and generally doesn't cause any problems with pg. (I lost the pg but NOT b/c of the fibroid).

Hope you get great news. GL!

  • Congrats on your pregnancy.  As others have said, the only way to know is by u/s.  I had no signs and Dr had no suspicions, we didn't find out until our first u/s at 11 weeks.  GL!
  • When my doc did my pelvic, he said "so, you're about 10 weeks?"  I said "nooo, I'm pretty sure I'm only 8."  The u/s followed the pelvic, which is standard practice at my office, and sure enough - two babies.

I agree with pps, though, that u/s is the only way to tell.  There could be something else going on like a fibroid or cyst.  GL next week!

  • I had a similar experience in that I thought I was having twins before my appointment too. I was pregnant before and ended up having a miscarriage, but this time around I felt much bigger than the first time. I kept telling DH there were two in there and this was at 5 and 6 weeks! We had my 1st appointment at about 7 1/2 weeks and sure enough, two babies! They do say a mother's intuition is usually right.

GL to you and congrats on your BFP!

  • Your story is basically what happened to me. We had a dr. appt. at 8.5 weeks and just felt "too big" for how far along I was supposed to be. An ultrasound revealed two babies. It can happen!
