Need bedsharing help!!

So we started bedsharing right of the bat, but transitioned DS to his crib at around 3.5 months because he and I weren't getting enough restful sleep. Well, the past month, he has been increasingly fussy and waking up at night and the only thing that lets him sleep is nursing/sleeping together.  I'm OK with this, we have been sleeping much better, in part because I am less worried about rolling on him.

The problem is he seems to move A TON in his sleep, he flops around so much that we have since moved to a bed in his room that is against the wall because he doesn't stay still. Do you think it's not safe to bedshare with him? The problem seems to be when I try to put him back into his crib, he cries. I'm torn because I enjoy sleeping with him, but I really need both of us to get a good nights sleep.

  • DS is a wiggle worm, too.  We have a guard rail on my side of the bed.  I'm very aware of him and still feel very safe (even though he is creeping and almost crawling already).  Ultimately we may move the mattress to the floor but so far so good.

Also - I do wake up several times at night to change my position and/or his.  He also dream nurses a couple of times each night.  But for the most part I feel well rested.  Or maybe I'm just used to the lack of sleep?  LOL :)

  • I get kicked in the head most nights.  It comes with the territory.  He may be more fussy and wakeful at night because he's gaining so many physical milestones.  I know that's not really a solution to your problem, but just knowing there's a reason behind his wakefulness may help you get through it.
