Re: Baby's hospital list

  • i honestly only have my LO's coming home outfit in the bag, a receiving blanket, and a blanket I want to have him laying on for his pictures. I also have a hat, mittens and socks for him.

  • Not much- the hospital should outfit you with all you need. I'm just packing a coming home outfit.
  • I packed 2 outfits, a newborn and a 0-3 month because I don't know how big he will be. I also packed his baby blanket because it is the same one my mom brought me home from the hospital with so it has sentimental value and I want it in the pics. Also a pram or whatever they are called to keep him warm since we live in MN and it should snow anyday.
  • LO's coming home outfit (onesie, sweater, pants, booties) hat and mittens, heavy blanket, and 2 receiving blankets
  • The hospital I delivered DD at didn't provide wipes. You had to wet a washcloth with each diaper change. I had a c/s so getting out of bed was such a chore if DH or another visitor wasn't there to help. I ended up having DH bring me some the day after DD was born. I'm delivering at a different hospital but I am going to make sure I throw some into LO's bag this time. Just in case.

Oh, and nail clippers. Hospital won't clip babies nails and won't provide clippers for you to do it yourself.

  • Do I even need to bring a diaper bag for her? Lol I could fit her coming home outfit in my gigantic purse.

  • I packed 2 coming home outfits (because I couldn't decide!!!), a blanket, nail clippers & pacifiers because I don't like the kind the hospital has.
  • We decided last night I over packed the diaper bag. "Just in case". lol I'm not one to ask.  I've had it packed with diapers and wipes for a few weeks now just because it feels more complete. I threw in a couple receiving blankets, a big fluffy blanket, some onesies, and two coming home outfits because I'm in desicive. I realize I won't need half of what is in there and if I did the hospital is 15 minutes from the house so it's not a big deal, but I've gone crazy :)
  • I liked having Swaddle-Mes for Ben- I hated the stupid rectangular hospital blankets, and he loved being tightly wrapped.
  • I packed everything he needed b/c this is my first and I have no idea what the hospital provides, even tho I'm sure they'll give us everything we need while we're there.

A couple premie sleepers (just in case), a few newborn sleepers, socks, hats, mittens, wipes, hand santizer (for those who want to hold him).. I think thats it, but I'm probably wrong b/c I ALWAYS overpack.

I still have to throw in a few receiving blankets and I was considering bringing his boppy but I haven't made that final decision yet.

  • I recommend the Boppy, especially if you end up with a c-section. It's so much easier and more comfortable to breast or bottle feed with it.Diapers, wipes, and blankets tend to be provided (to a point) by the hospital, but I'll be bringing some blankets of my own. I'm also bringing both premie and nb sleepers and onesies...and probably the baby book (if I find one before he's born.)
  • I think a PP said it but whatevs bring your own wipes, most hospitals have funky wipes

  • All I am bringing for the LO is a coming home outfit and a blanket for the carseat.

I am bringing the Boppy in the car and will have DH get it if I feel I want it once LO is here.

That's it. Our hospital provides everything else you would need for LO.

  • My friend told me to pack wipes, clippers, coming home outfit, proper seasonal-wear and any special blankets I wanted to have on hand (for pictures) - and to be able to pack them in my bag and to have an extra bag on hand for the items the hospital provides.  Many hospitals have pre-packaged care packages for baby and once opened, you get charged so take it all home - even the crummy blankets because they come in handy for burping/spit up/extra something to lay down for that horrid diaper.

  • Bring a few recieving blankets. They work great for log rolling on either side of baby in car seat, and one to cover baby. A hat, if weather is cool. Outfits, a couple diapers, bottles if you are formula feeding. Some hospital's will send you with a couple bottles of premixed formula to take with you if you need them. Some mom's bring pacifiers, in case the baby does not take the one's that the hospital issues. Baby socks. I don't think the little mittens for the hands are necessary, as babies are used to putting their hands to their face for self soothing, and I find them cruel.
