My, aren't you popular today ;)

I also have a woven wrap question.  I'm a pretty diehard MT fan for quickness but I LOVED my stretchy wrap for comfort.  I've wanted a WW for a while but really don't have the $ for yet another carrier.  Is it possible to make one ie. find the right kind of fabric in a fabric store?  And what width/Iength would I need?  I'm sure I'd need a longer length than usual bc I am plus sized and have a huge chest.

TIA!

  • I feel so loved today ;-)

You can make one.  Cotton gauze works - while not as supportive as a true woven, it is more supportive than a stretchy.  Onsburg (sp? - it's a kind of muslin) is also recommended.  It's not much to look at but can be dyed.   You'd probably want whatever length your stretchy is for the gauze as you'd want to do multi-layer carries with it since it's so thin.  The onsbug you could either do long or try out a shorter length if you wanted to try something like rucks.  If you want a true shortie for rebozo carries, you can use a table cloth (you'd need at least 2.7 meters or so).

Most wovens are 65-70 cm wide.  You might be most comfortable with a 5.2 meter or so wrap (size 6).  If you want to try something like a ruck, you can go shorter - most folks go down two sizes for a ruck (so around a 4.2 meter - you may be able to go shorter for sure).

You might find it's just as cheap to buy a used wrap unless you get a killer deal on some fabric.  You can definitely get a used wrap for $50-$80 if you keep an eye on FSOT.

    HTH!
