I was crying as I was feeding Nicolas

Last night, I went in at 10:00pm to give my LO his night time feeding.  And as I was holding him I started to cry.  I felt so much love it made I could not hold my tears back.  And also to know that he won't need me to feed him anymore at 10pm. I can't believe he is getting so old and I'm just in awe of how much I love him.  For me, I never knew what real love was until I had him.  I'm sorry I'm being sappy but I thought I would share. (I need to stop writing so I can regroup since I'm at work.)

Re: I was crying as I was feeding Nicolas

  • I know exactly what you mean. Grady will be 3 in Jan and I still find myself going into his room after he goes to sleep and leaning over him and just admiring him and telling him how much I love him. Many of those nights it brings tears to my eyes. It is an amazing love that is for sure!

  • I understand this exactly. It's like we love them almost more than we can stand...it's amazingly, wonderfully, perfect. :)
  • I have done this on occaision as well.  This sort of love is overwhelming, that is certain.  It is an amazing thing.

  • DH and I were talking about this last night because I was crying about not having enough time with him in the evening, it just never seems enough.  We get home at 5 and he's usually down between 7 and 7:30.  There are so many nights when DH and I go and pick him up from his crib and just rock and hold him.  Thankfully he's a good enough sleeper to let us (for now!).

If you guys don't have it, you should get the book Love You Forever.  I think it really gets me having a little boy, but DH says he can totally see me driving across town to rock my 30 year old son to sleep one day!

I have this book and I love it too.  I used to read it to him all the time and I cried every time for the first few months.

  • I totally get what ya'll are saying, but I had to laugh when you posted about the book.  MIL had that book for DH and she recently brought it back to him.  That book will forever be ruined for me, b/c MIL still treats DH like he's 5 and literally would rock his 30 year old ass to sleep every night if he'd let her!  It's hard to imagine we'll be on the other side one day.

Some people find it creepy but I find it sweet.  Rocking a 30 year old man is a little weird but it is more about the meaning.  I completely understand what you mean about being on the other side.  I have more respect and love for my mom and dad since LO was born.

Haha!  That's pretty funny!  I drive DH nuts (on purpose of course Stick out tongue) by telling DS that he'll never love any other woman more than me!  Of course I know he will, but we'll just save that for later!

I don't find the book itself creepy.  I guess you'd have to know MIL to get what I'm saying.  I think the book is great, it's just been ruined for me, personally.  It just made me giggle, I didn't mean to rain on your parade.

  • Another great book is "On the Day You Were Born." I rarely read it to DS because it always makes me cry, though!

I love this book! We received it shortly after Nolan was born. It's beautiful.
