Let's talk crib recall... poll

Do you have one of the cribs recalled?

If yes do you intend to get the parts to fix the issue?  Or will you buy another crib?

I'm in a bit of a dilema. We have one of the recalled cribs. Currently, it is being used as a toddler bed.  Our plans were to use as a crib  if we have another but now I'm thinking we should just transition it to a full size bed and if we have another just buy a new crib.  Thoughts?

  • We do, but I LOVE (love! love! love!) our crib so I am planning just to get the hardware to fix it. Although it is a bit frustrating b/c this is the 2nd recall of parts on the crib (the first was about the mattress support brackets - https://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09093.html).

  • No I don't have one of the cribs recalled.

I think I would go ahead and get the parts so that you have the option to use it as a crib if you want.  At least then you'll have the parts on hand if you need them.

Ours isn't on the recall list either but I would get the parts if it was just in case. (and in my situation, I would need it given DD#2).

  • We have a drop-side but it's a different brand.  As grateful as I am for the safety monitoring, and I get the CPSC's e-mails for *every* recall, just in case, her crib is really not a concern for me.  I'd have to look to see what parts are recommended; it seemed as though it was more of an issue with smaller babies getting stuck, so I'm not in a panic.  I knew I wanted a drop-side and we looked far and wide for it so I really feel good about it....

  • If it were me, I would get it fixed. I trust that their repair kit would be safe and I wouldn't want the hassle of buying a new crib.

If you are against the idea of using a dropside with #2,then I could see getting a new one. But otherwise get the repair kit!

  • If it were me, I would use crib as a toddler bed.  I would still order the repair kit for just in case, but I'd probably buy a new convertible crib.  That's just me though.
