I love, love, LOVE my Moby and DS really seems to respond to babywearing - and I find it much easier than lugging the carseat around!
I'm hoping to get a new carrier or 2 for the holidays, especially since apparently the Moby isn't the best once he gets a bit older. So far we mainly use the hug hold and sometimes he likes to face out (lotus hold)... I'd really like to try a back carry, but I haven't had the confidence to try it out yet. I'm thinking of trying an Ergo since everyone here seems to love them and I think DH would be more likely to try that than a tied carrier and then beyond that either a mei tai or woven wrap...
So, here's my questions then:
For extra credit, what can you tell me about wovens? How much harder than my beloved Moby are they to maneuver? There seem to be so many - is there a specific brand/style you'd recommend to a beginner?
TIA!
Re: Mei Tais?
I'm not much help on mei tais as I've only tried a babyhawk - hopefully someone else will chime in on that.
My siggy link has lots on info on wovens though ;-) If you love the moby and wrapping, you'll really love wovens! I honestly didn't care for the moby and I'm a wrap nut for sure. I found them easier to wrap with (the moby was too thick and stretchy for my tastes). Plus you can use them for back carries. As to which brand, it really depends on what qualities you are looking for. The best advice is probably to find one you love the look of and give it a shot.

Thanks ;-)
There are differences between them but it's hard to know what qualities you'd like in a woven until you try one I think. You will find that any woven will hold a carry much more securely than your moby - so no sagging. There are some wraps that are more supportive (if you are talking wrapping toddlers in particular). It also depends on what sort of carries you hope to do - long wraps in multi-layer carries verses short wraps in single layer carries. I prefer thin wraps because I find it easier to get a snug carry; other folks like thicker wraps because they like to be able to do a "messier" carry. Some wraps are very "beat-up-able" while others require delicate washing, line drying or even handwashing (wool!).
If you have a sense of whether you'd like something thick or thin or an idea of what kind of carries you might like to do, I could suggest some brands.
