Attachment Parenting

I think I finally broke through to DH!

DH and I have VERY different idea's of parenthood! I am very AP friendly, and he is more the babies need to cry mentality. I honestly think its cause his mom say's babies need to "work out their lungs" WTF!?!

I told him, I honestly don't give a flying fvck if anyone thinks I'm weird cause I want to hold my baby constantly! It makes him happy. We've been having a few little tiffs over it recently.

Finally I asked him, "What is your instinct when I am upset and crying?"

His response was to comfort and fix it.

My response "Please do that with our son, cause he can't fix himself like I can"

I think we finally broke through and he finally understands more!

YAY!

  • What a great thing to say to make him get it.

What a great thing to say to make him get it.

He's VERY kind and loving to me when I am upset, so his CIO mentality with our son was just realllllly weird to me.

He adores our son, but he just doesn't get childhood development. I've bought him books he just never reads them

  • Pretty sure it is just men in general.  DH is the first one to jump if ds fusses, but his idea of play and my idea of it are totally different.  A few accidents with our son had to happen before dh got just how closely he should be watching ds.  I'm sure there are differences somewhere in every family.

  • I often wonder why more people can't understand this. If a person is upset, they want comfort, yet if a baby is upset then they need to CIO. Why can't a baby receive comfort? This really bugs me.
