I don't like it, especially not for a girl. It reminds me of an emery board, and it always looks oddly spelled to me -- as a name, I want to spell it Emory (like the university).
What about Emily? It's a nice, more traditional name that doesn't have the associations that Emery does.

NMS. Not terrible, but it sounds a little like saying "Emily" with a mouthful of marshmallows.
As fare as Em-names go, I recommend sticking to classics like Emma and Emily.
My uncle had a male dog named Emeries.
