Did any one get Af while pumping?

I'm 5 weeks PP and i think i got Af this weekend.  I have been pumping for Lo since he was born since he's been getting feeding though the feeding tube.  I have been pumping 5-6 times a day and have have been getting from 15-20 oz a day.  Has this happened to any one else?  I thought you didn't get AF when nursing so i thought Pumping would be the same.

  • The idea that you can't get pregnant or have AF while bfing/pumping is a myth.

I have AF right now and it's the first since PP and quite frankly I'm ready to call FEMA because I've never had such a heavy flow. (Sorry if that's TMI).

  • My first came at about 8wks pp and I was pumping all the time at that point.

  • I got mine 6w post-partum. I was still pumping 8x/day. I was very unhappy.

My periods were fairly irregular, but they still came.

  • I got mine about 6 weeks PP and attributed it to pumping vs. BF

  • After reading the pp's I have no reason to complain...I didn't get it while pumping only, but 2 days ago I got my first AF since DS was born.  I was still bummed...
  • At first at about 6 weeks PP I thought I had AF because of a sudden increase in my bleeding, but it was just that (pp bleeding) because I wasn't healed yet.

I haven't gotten my PP AF yet!  I used to EP 7x/day and now I'm only EP 3-4x/day!

This.  I've had some spotting/breakthrough bleeding recently and I'm having some supply issues (EPing).

  • I bf, pump, and ff (about 1/2 since my supply has never gotten that much better despite all my efforts) - and still haven't gotten a pp af.  Granted, as you see in my siggy - my post-bc cycles were so screwy I got my bfp on cd64!....so who knows.

I just sure hope not to be pg (we've umm...not been too careful a couple of times in the past week).  Crap...I've been in such a horrible mood today, snapping at everyone......*runs and checks to make sure I still have a test left to use in a couple of weeks*

  • Ugh I got it 7 weeks pp and I was pumping round the clock. It really killed my supply, too!

  • Yes. I bled for 8 weeks post partum and then 2 weeks later got my first pp period.

  • I've been spotting a little bit. I'm about 7 weeks PP and my doctor said because I'm not BF that I could get my period. Not really looking forward to it.

  • oh yeah.  I got af about 6 wks pp.  It was pretty depressing!  if you were bfing, you would be doing so many more times a day, so that could be part of it.  also, I've read that nighttime feedings/pumpings help keep your period away so if you're like me and tried not to pump in the middle of the night, that could be it too.
