TTC After a Loss

First AF after D&C??

I know this question gets asked alot, and I apologize if it annoys anyone, but it's been 5 weeks today since my miscarriage and then D&C, and I have no symptoms at all of AF. I went away for the weekend with DH, and had massages, relaxed, it was wonderful. Part of me thought I would get it then because I was going swimming and getting a massage, so what could be worse, but still, nothing. I am so sick of this limbo.  I need to move forward!!

It seems like alot of ladies here average about 4 to 6 weeks? I want to know, how long until your first AF and then, how long should I wait before I need to see a doctor is she doesn't show? I have an app. this thursday to over the results of my physical/pap smear etc., should I ask then?

Thanks a million, I am getting so worked up over this!!!!

Re: First AF after D&C??

  • Mine took 8 weeks and that was only after a round of Provera to bring it on.  I didn't need to see my doctor, i just called them and they called in an rx for me

  • I'm sorry Sad That limbo is awful.

AF showed up for me at 5w2d. Hopefully she shows for you soon. I think most docs want to wait until you hit 60 days before they intervene. You're still in a "normal" timeframe (even though nothing feels normal about it).

I hope AF shows up soon. ::hugs::

  • It was 28 days for me.  But the farther along you were, the longer it's going to take for your hCG to fall and to get AF.  I think the general rule is to call your doctor if no AF after 8 weeks, but I'd call after 6 weeks.

  • Thanks for helping me!! I just feel so...dejected. All my momentum is gone, I was moving forward, but now I am regressing. I feel like my uterus is on strike.

  • I'm at 6 weeks post D&C today.  I just called my doc to get an Rx of Provera.  I know how you feel.  I cannot wait to get this show on the road.
  • Mine took 29 days, which is a few days longer than my normal 25-26 day cycle.  No reason to be too concerned, but go ahead and ask about it at your appointment.  If I went 60 days w/o a period I would ask for drugs to make it come.

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

  • Up to 12 weeks is considered normal.  In my case, it took longer for no good reason.

  • i'll be at six weeks tomorrow and still no signs of her showing. I did have symptoms about a week ago but then those disappeared.
