So.... One of our favorite names from the start was Lila. However, a few months ago some friends of ours named their puppy Lila. Would it be really bad if we still named our daughter Lila? These friends know some of the same people that we do... but not everyone. Not sure what to do!
Re: Dilemma
If you love the name, use it anyway! If these are close friends of yours, you can always joke about it with them. As long as you don't mind that it's their dog's name, I'm sure they won't care either.
We have 3 dogs, and 2 of them have 'people' names (Bailey and Brandy). I also know people with those names. No biggie, in my opinion.
If you are set on Lila, then name your child Lila.
Quite frankly, your child will be around a lot longer than their dog.
This.
Agreed, name your child Lila. I do hate situations like this though. Our good friends named their son Henry, but they tend to call him Hank. Hank has been our top name for like my entire life, so it's hard to decide if I should give it up or stick with it.
Love Lila!
I seriously considered naming this baby Jack if it were a boy...We have a Saint Bernard named Jack. =o)

It's a very legitimate girls name, regardless of what people name their pets.
Honestly, I prefer naming my kitties real people names, because even for pets, I'm inclined to use names I simply love the sound of. I hope that people still feel comfortable using those names for their kids, because they are great names.
I just try not to say things like "Chase needs to stop pooping on the carpet" or, "It was so adorable, Jack was licking Chase while they were sharing a sunbeam" within earshot of anybody who has children with those names.
