possibly offensive thought on cornhole

Ok, this has been bugging me for years, but it finally got to the point where I just can't stand it anymore. We overheard a woman talking about how much her daughters love cornhole. How they could cornhole all day and not get tired of it.

I know the GAME cornhole is a midwest thing, but where I grew up cornhole meant something very very different, and the immature teenager in me snickers every time someone mentions how much they like it.

  • I laugh about it too.  It is really vulgar if taken the wrong way. But honestly, there's lots of words I snicker about if the mood strikes. Hard, hole, moist just to name a few. I'm going to be such a bad mom to a boy. Devil

  • I would have died laughing had I heard that and you know my DH would have, too.  And this is coming from someone who enjoys the game.  Like Kristen said there's plenty of words that make me giggle.

LMFAO! I hate the word "moist." It's in my top 5 list of words I avoid saying.

Before I moved in with my husband I was going to buy a house and had to take a first time home owners class.  The guy that taught the class was talking about the different inspections and stuff and he said something about the inspector using a moisture meter.  I laughed a little out loud but no one else did.  I felt like a fool but to this very day thinking of that old man say moisture meter makes me crack up every time!

  • I agree!! My dad and his best friend would yell "cornhole" at each other since they were in high school. This was before the game obviously was thought of (I think). When growing up and now, if we were out and my dad's friend called he would leave a message on the answering machine. The message would say "cornhole". That's it! My dad knew that he needed to call his friend. LOL.....But then again the other saying my dad has with his friend have when they call is "eat me". LOL....I can't believe I just said this. =)

I should also say that my family is big on the game. My FIL, DH, and dad go to cornhole tournaments and play for money.

  • yes, it's a very bad name, but I also think of this:

  • yea, and if you are going to try to buy a cornhole set, don't google cornhole...especially at work.
  • LOL.  That makes me think of Sex and the City where they are talking about sex, i.e. "coloring", in front of Charlotte's daughter, and Samantha is talking about "I could color all day, every day..." :)

OMG - I literally HATE the word moist. It makes me gag. The worst part is that everyone here at work knows it and they love to give me grief about it.  We are exceptionally mature around the office.  Smile

I thought I was the only one!!!  HAHAHA!

  • I just used Urban Dictionary - bad idea. Ick!So now I have to ask, Jersey, where you grew up, was it used as a noun or a verb?

And I would never say that someone could cornhole all day. Unless I was trying to be gross and funny. Did she purposefully leave out the word "play"?  I would have a hard time keeping a serious face if someone said that to me.

  • LOL I thought Chuck was making a joke when he first told me what the game was called!
  • I think it is just a Cincinnati thing.  I am from Michigan and had never heard of Cornhole (the game, of course) until I moved here.  I've lived in 5 diff states and the only place that cornhole is not offensive is here.
  • I'm so mature that all I think about is Beavis and Butthead when I hear 'cornhole'.....

I also hate the word moist, but my biggest pet peeve is the word 'panties'. If you're refering to a grown woman's underthings - it's bra and underwear! Whew - I feel better now  Smile

  • I had never heard of "cornhole" until we moved here as well, it's just a nasty sounding word. Speaking of, a few years ago I was listening to the radio and a nationwide study came out that the top 2 words most hated by women are "moist" and "panties". I HATE the word moist...eeeew, not crazy about panties either but it doesnt make me gag. I also dispise the word "armpit", I say underarm and encourage you to hop on the bandwagon! Stick out tongue
