Northern California Babies

Dh has scabies..don't know what to do...

I have been on the computer for the last two hours looking at what my options are and what I can do to keep my baby safe from this.

I took all the bedding off the bed..washed it all with hot water... (also all the clothes everyone has worn the last few days)

The past 3 days the baby has been sleeping at my parents house (for fear of her getting scabies).  I have been at my parents house with her the last two nights. :-(  I feel like i am abandoning my hubs.

I miss my hubs... And he misses our little baby.  He feels terrible.  He went to the dr and got some creams to treat it.  Not sure if its safe for me to spend the night in the same bed?? :-(    Should me and the baby sleep in the guest room?  Should I stay away?  Should I be taking the same cream that they gave him? Should I get checked out even though I don't have any sympthoms?

I changed the sheets and blankies in the bassinet as well.

Should I be steaming the sheets and and everything we come in contact with?  Does Lysol work for this?

So many questions!

My mom and I are going to our house to do some more disinfecting.

Any advise would be appreciated.  I feel like I have a 36 year old son that just got sent home from school with lice. hahahahahaa...

  • oh goodness. I had this in high school and it sucked SO BAD. I remember washing everything in HOT and putting our pillows in garbage bags. Everyone in the family did the cream, i think we were all infested. ANNNND, I think we all got it from my sisters boyfriend at the time. Blah. I hope he feels better soon, I remember that itching was killer. I would give a call to the doc or advise nurse, they can tell you how long to stay away or how long to keep pillows closed off or stay off your mattress (or if that is even needed)

  • Sorry you're going through this.  I found this on the web.  It doesn't sound like they live long away from the body so that's a good thing.

  • Generally we tell everyone in the house to do the treatment at the same time to make sure no one else gets it. Then you are supposed to be clear of the infestation, also have to wash everything like you did. The rash doesn't go away that quickly because they are bites. The mite will be gone but the bite is still there. If DH keeps getting NEW bites that means it didn't work and it all has to be done again. If there are no new ones, that means it worked and he is clear.
