I woke yesterday am with a very sore shoulder and couldn't figure out why. DH told me that he saw me sitting up nursing the babe in our bed and I was snoring!! I so wish we could nurse lying down... swearword reflux.
I was also wondering what you are using as a code word for nursing? I'm not super worried about it but would like something so she's not hollering for boobs while we're at church!
Re: Story and a question
Oh, I remember those days. DD had reflux and our doctor said that she had to stay upright for thirty minutes after every feeding. How many times did I fall asleep sitting up!
I've always referred to nursing as "boobies" as in "do you want boobies?" In retrospect, maybe a different word would have been better as DD can now say boobies. Luckily, it just sounds like "booey". Apparently MIL used to say "nurse" to her kids so when they wanted it they would just say "nurse?" That probably would have been a better route. I have to admit I kind of think DD saying "boobies" is a little funny.
Ouch on the shoulder!
I've always just said milk - "Do you want some milk?" Now that we've reached the "tug on mama's shirt stage" it occurred to me that I should teach him the sign for milk too so he can ask that way.
