Baby Names

WDYT . . .

DH and I both really like the name Anneliese and he had a dream that we had a girl and this is what we named her.  The problem is our last name sounds like Skate.

Is Anneliese Skate too hard to pronounce?  I'm thinking that it is and so we're considering Annelie instead.  Any thoughts are appreciated!

  • I love the name Anneliese but Annelie is really pretty too and I do think it sounds better with your last name.

  • I don't think Anneliese Skate is too difficult to pronounce.  Very pretty!

  • I think the S runs together on the end, I do like the suggestion of annelee

  • I love Anneliese but do not like the s ending with a LN that begins with an S -- it really makes the names run together.
  • I think Annaliese is very pretty and it doesn't sound bad with a last name like Skate, it's just that without pausing between saying her first and last name, it really ends up sounding like "Annalie Skate" anyway...did I explain that right? BUT she won't usually be called by her first and last name together, just her first name...so if you love Annaliese, I say go for it!

  • I really like Anneliese but I think that would be hard for her to learn to spell and may be hard to pronounce so if I were you I would go with Annelie which is lovely as well!

This. It also made me giggle (Annelie) since that is what Quagmire (family guy) named his little girl on last weeks episode. Any who both names are great and it shouldn't be too hard for her to learn to spell IMO.
  • It runs into your last name. Don't use a first name that ends in "s".
