How recent does Christmas card pic need to be?

Tell me if this is ok or if I need to get busy- I will eventually do Christmas/birthday pics but prob not in time to send them out in cards. So would it be ridic to use one of the pics punk took of Katie in August? Some family have already seen the pics...

  • No I think its fine unless she looks dramatically diff....I always feel like it needs to be recent but I know a lot of people who use summer vaca pics, etc.

  • I think it is fine.  We might use the picture below...

  • i think it should be tkaen within 1-2 months of Christmas.  But your punk pics are professionally done, so I think that would make it OK.
  • I think it's ok. Does it look like it'll fit a Christmas card? I like to have a good background for our cards. Something plain and simple that can be versatile. I've also done collage type pics so that there's variety from the year. So you could use the one you like as a big pic, but have an updated smaller pic in the corner too.

Although this year I opted to wait to take pics this week so that we were closer to Christmas. DS is still changing a lot every month.

  • I think its fine. I used pics of B last year from pics that were taken in the beginning of October.

  • I say go for it any time it's a good pic. Like someone else mentioned, it's best if it fits w/ the card (like the background/theme/etc.) but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  • Ok- I have a card design in mind that would match. I'll shop tomorrow.

  • LOL, my mom always tended to use pics taken the *previous* Christmas when we traveled somewhere.  I requested that it at least be from the current calendar year and I usually lost!  Really, I think as long as everyone mostly looks the name, newborns notwithstanding since they change so quickly, that you'll be just fine.  I think Sept.-Dec. is ideal though.
