I know it's twilighty but it won't be when LO is in school and it really matters. Thanks for the input.
I'll have to disagree with you. Are you aware the movie's midnight opening broke all previous records for midnight openings? I couldn't care less about Twilight but I have a feeling the name will become more and more Twilighty the next few years, not the opposite.
I have a coworker whose son is named Cullen. I think it is really cute, but yes Twilight fans will think you named for the vampires (no one else though )

I have to agree that Cullen is going to gain in popularity as there will be more sequels to the vampire books/movies. Twilight is not going away.
That said, I like the name Cullen, but wouldn't use it myself due to the association.
Love Madelyn.
TTC #1 for over 5 years - too many to count IF treatments (tried everything and anything), repeat miscarriages.
Finally, Sticky Success!! B/G Twins arrived 2011.

I don't know a darn thing about Twilight and have only learned the character names thru this board, but i have to agree with wheelenl. It seems like it'll be a bigger phenomenon than Harry Potter so don't count on it going away so quickly.
Both names are nice. I'm not into the twilight thing. If you like the name then go for it! Sooner or later twilight will cheese itself out. It's not like the association will be there forever.
FWIW I'm not a Twilight fan at all and the association didn't even come to mind until I started reading the responses. Plus, I don't assume every child named Harry is named after a boy wizard :-) (and I am a big HP fan!) Cullen is NMS, but I don't think that you're dooming him to a life of vampire associations.
Madelyn is nice but I prefer the traditional spelling, as well. Would you call her Maddie? I think that is such a cute nn.

Re: DH and I are in love with...
Cullen is kind of nice, but it screams "TWILIGHT" right now.
I like Madelyn, but I prefer the traditional spelling. Either way, a nice name!
I love Cullen! A friend of mine had twin boys last year and named them Jackson and Cullen and they are absolutely adorable.
Madelyn is cute too, we considered it (but spelled Madeleine) for DD early on.
