Okay, so I like my OB for the whole pregnancy thing, but I don't think he really did much when I delivered Sarah (see birthstory link in siggy), so I am thinking about going with a midwife this time.
The thing is - I still want to deliver in a hospital, not a birthing center. I am sorry, I do not like the idea of being kicked out the door the same day just because the baby looks okay. I want to stay in the hospital a couple of days and have people visit me without worrying what the house looks like. Does such a thing exist? Does anyone know of a midwife that delivers at Methodist (med center or north central) or North Central Baptist?
Re: Midwife Recs
Congratulations by the way!
My family Dr. recommends Lone Star OB and they have also have Midwives as part of the practice. I think they deliver at St. Luke's but may go elsewhere, I have no idea. One of my coworkers had looked into using the MWs there. https://www.lonestarmidwives.com/index.htm I think there's a birthing center, but I'm not sure if they also deliver in the hospital.
Hi Dawn
I was a patient of Lone Star Midwives. They are beyond incredible. Jan, Lois and Amy...any of them are perfect. They are the only certified group in town and only deliver at St. Lukes in the Medical Center. They work closely with Lone Star OBGYN and the docs there consult if necessary.
I ended up having a C Section and Jan was with me the whole time. I was so scared b/c it was an emergency and she was beyond incredible.
If you want more info...let me know. Email me.... michelley1210 @ aol.com
Im seeing the midwifes over at Lone Star Ob/Gyn for the 3rd time. I love them! Lois delivered my 1st 2 babies and hopfully this one she'll be able to deliver.
The only thing I didn't like was the post-partum room. My hubby barely fit in there. Hes been taunting me by saying hes just gonna visit everyday rather than stay the night (it better be a joke!). Its small, when its just my hubby and me now can you imagine family???
I love the staff, its just the hospital I wish would change.
Good luck though!
Thanks! Michelle said the same about the rooms. I don't think it would be a problem since we upgraded to a VIP suite at Methodist and would do the same if we were to switch to St Luke's (DH's "push present" to me).
