There are a few names I like with a meaning I'm not crazy about. I love the names so much, that it doesn't matter. If you really love that name, use it!
no--I don't know what my name means and I've looked it up many times (guess it's just not that memorable LOL). It's not like the kids on the playground will be calling her lame.
Re: I like the name Claudia, but it means "lame"
I wouldn't be bothered because she won't be "lame." I checked other meanings for lame and found this one which is nice.
"an ornamental fabric in which metallic threads, as of gold or silver, are woven with silk, wool, rayon, or cotton."
and this
" n. A thin metal plate, especially one of the overlapping steel plates in medieval armor."

Really who is going to actually know that? I have a friend named Claudia - very pretty. Meanings don't bother me.
My name means: a French nobleman''s surname brought to the British Isles after the Norman conquest. No one has ever brought that up. Ha!
If this is correct, then "lame" isn't like disabled or uncool, it is a shiny fabric that is pronounced lam-A.
ETA: And if ds were a girl he would have been Celia or Cecilia which mean blind. So I wouldn't put too much stock in the meaning.
