I like both. And both are gaining in popularity if that matters.
Any Mia I know is white. I know Anna/Ana's that are hispanic.
Married my best friend on 5/14/05
Three Girls: Bits 2/08 Biscuit 10/09 & Sweet Chuck 2/12 One Favorite son: Suishy Smalls 6/14 And another Princess coming 7/16
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Neither of them come across as ethnic names to me. I know Mia's and Anna's who are caucasian.
I have a bit of a negative connotation that comes to mind when I see both of those names together, but I don't think it's worth mentioning since you're only going to be using one of them.
My baby will be Mexican, Italian, German, and Irish...none of those things really played a roll in picking a name. I did consider how they would be said is Spanish but that is it.
Sorry, I should have said she'll likely have blue eyes blonde hair which isn't typical Italian look... ya know? Like I feel like one would expect dark hair -whether dark skinned or not. Fair point sorry.
Anna and Mia together make me think of the Annorexia and Bulmia because they are used as nn for the diseases (google hem).
However, by themselves they are just girls names. NMS though.

Okay that is just funny. I didn't know that! Well no worries it will only be one or the other and not one as a mn. Thanks for telling me that...random!
Re: What do these names make you think of?
Me too.
I personally prefer Anna though.

hmm I never known an Italian not to be white...
You do know "white" is not an ethnicity right?

Good luck choosing!
