DS's new trick as of today is climbing out of his bed. He didn't nap
because it was too fun to climb out. I'm hoping he will stay in bed
now. But I'm not sure. He's 22 month. How do I keep him in his crib?
Honestly, you have 2 options. If he is climbing out, it is really a safety issue and you either need to use a crib tent or transition him to a big boy bed.

How do I keep him in his bed once it only has the side rail? We have a convertible crib and will just switch out the crib side for the rail.
My dd never tried to climb out of her crib, but if she had I would have gotten a crib tent for this reason. She would NEVER have napped in a bed. I waited until she dropped her nap before I transitioned her to a bed.
we moved both boys to big boy beds at 2 or a little after and i remember being concerned with the getting up and wandering around the room too. i thought oh no, he'll circle the room all night long-we had a baby gate up, so he couldn't get out of the room. and for both the novelty (of climbing out of bed) wore off. I'd go back in and put them back in bed at first too, just in case they didn't get the message that it was bed time. Oh and the first time either slept in his big boy bed, it was for nap time during the day and i made sure they were ready to crash so they would have an easier time of using the bed at night after already waking up in it. good luck it was a scary step at first, but more for me than the boys.
