We're pretty settled on the name Piper Francine but well...I'm an indecisive person by nature which isn't helping my cause of making a final decision:P I've never liked my first name all that much so, I of course also want to make sure we pick out a name for our little lady that is a touch unique, but wont make her cringe or hate us when she's older.
So, Piper...thoughts? Acceptable as an adult name as well?
Re: Opinion please!
I think of the children's rhyme...Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, etc. It sounds a bit childish to me.

I kind of think it sounds more childish and I can't really picture an adult being called Piper.
I guess I will go against the crowd here.. ..BUT I love the name Piper. I would totally use it but DH's neice is a Piper.
This is just my 2 cents... or maybe 3 cents!
as far as it sounding "childish" as an adult name I don't necessarily agree. Just think there will be tons of older ladie's named Kendal, MacKenzie, McKayla, Phoebe, Chloe, Sophie, Alyssa, Emma....etc... etc.. who all sound like 20 something names now.
By the time the child becomes an "adult" their personality will likely fit whatever name they choose to be called, whether its the actual first name or a nickname or middle name. My grandmother was given a very timely family name Jean..and she absolutely hates it... so honestly you never know what your kid is really going to like. So, to make a long opinion short... I think you should name her what ever you like regardless of whether it's considered trendy or popular. Good Luck!
BTW- I love Piper Francine
Oh yeah, just for giggles... I thought I would share....my other grandmother's name is Shirley Temple. NO JOKE! Temple is her married name. Seriously, what are the chances of that! She actually embraced it.. she loves the originial Shirley Temple and now collects tons of her stuff.
Francine is pretty nonnegotiable for us. My mother went by her middle name of Frances and when she passed away in August of 2008, DH and I both agreed that if we ever had a little girl, we'd use either the name itself or some type of variation to honor her, especially since none of our children will ever meet her. I don't like Piper Frances because it just doesn't sound pleasing to me. A coworker of mine suggested Francine and both DH and I fell in love with how it flows with our last name!
