If you don't mind my asking, and feel free to PM the answer to me, but who did you see at Pediatrics of the NW before you switched? We are at the LO office, but I know that our dr. also is part time at the NW location. In the pediatrician post below that you responded to, part of your response struck a cord with me, with regards to feeling like your questions were unanswered or mocked. I have felt this way too and wonder if it is the same doctor. My husband and I are 99% sure we are switching to a different clinic (other reasons as well), but was curious.

Oh, let me know if it's the same person. The description sounds the same. Actually, it would be pretty sucky if more than one doctor in the clinic fit the description. His initials are JS. He was my pedi, and I thought going to a big clinic when I had twins would be the way to go: easy to get an appointment, longer hours, more resources. Oh, and he is always one of Portland Monthly's top docs of the year.
Holy crap it was awful. He mocked our decision to do a slower vaccination schedule (nothing extreme at all) after he seemed somewhat supportive of it during our initial interview. Also, the way he gave shots was not cool - holding the baby down on the exam table. Our doula really respects parents' choices for their children and even she was horrified enough to mention that he may not be a good fit for us.
We switched to Monique Pritchard based on the recommendation of our doula and everything I read on UrbanMamas. I learned that reputation from parents and actual performance of the doctor is so much more important than interviewing him/her before the kid is born. After our first appointment with her I almost cried. She's so playful with the girls and she makes us feel like the best parents with the best children. There's also rarely a wait, and we never have a problem getting in at the last minute. A few of my friends also go to her now, and we all have different parenting styles and vaccination schedules, and she supports every single one of our decisions. One of my friend drives across the city to see her because she loves her so much. If you want a 180 degree experience, you should check her out. www.sellwoodmd.com
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my post. I really appreciate it. Yes, we have (or had) the same doctor. When reading your post, so much of it is striking a cord. We were very pleased after our initial interview and even the first couple months of DD's life, but now, not so much. We also have had vaccination issues too, even though we were not trying to have a crazy schedule, just splitting the shots up a bit (half at the appointment and the other half 2 weeks later). I think the unanswered questions and feelings of being mocked were what put me over the edge.
Thank you for the recommendation. I am glad that you have found someone to truly care for your girls.

Super interesting. I'm so glad you paged me. Yes, we're not giving more than 2 shots per appointment - nothing crazy. His nurse rolled her eyes at us over that. You're going to be so relieved when you find a new pedi
