Tonight starts 'round 1' of the IL's dominating the holidays....

Tonight---Anniversary party for DH's aunt and uncle.

Thursday--we are 'supposed' to have Thanksgiving at DHs grandparents...I think I'm getting us out of it.

Dec 4th--surprise b-day party for DH's aunt

Dec 5th--MIL wants the kids to bake cookies with her all day.

Dec 6th--nephew's birthday party

Dec 11th--DH's cousin's 21st birthday (family is expected to come because they are getting a bus)

Dec 12th--MIL wants us to go to a holiday play with her.

Dec 18t-20th--IL's are out of town! Hooray sweet baby Jesus!

Dec 24th---Traditional Christmas eve with DH's extended family.

Dec 25th--Christmas dinner with DH's "immediate" family.

That doesn't include anything for MY family, either of our work Christmas parties or anything else that may come up during the month!  And gawd forbid you don't make it to one of the family events....

Re: Tonight starts 'round 1' of the IL's dominating the holidays....

  • Sounds fun...  Indifferent  Mine are coming here for Thanksgiving (I can't travel anyway) and staying with us.  Should be interesting since they're pissed at us b/c SIL and BIL aren't coming.  (Long story.)  Good news is that we won't have to see them again until after DS is born and a while after he's born if I have anything to say about it so at least mid to late February.  Stick out tongue
  • wow! I would eliminate some of those. Especially it's all the same family and you'll be seeing them again (and again and again)!! lol!

  • When do you see your side?

How are you going to get out of Thanksgiving?

  • Gah!  I should probably stop whining about the 3 gtgs my ILs are planning.  Indifferent
    .
  • Maybe I should quit bitchingabout how my MIL is complaining about our plans - talk about monopolizing your time.

You need to tell them to stick those plans up their ass.

  • If my IL's were expecting us to go to those many things, I'd have an excuse for at least half of them...if not more.  That is ridiculous.

I think everyone just got a stomach bug... and it can rotate between all of you for a good, what 2 weeks?  Yeah.  eew.

  • Thanksgiving is with my parents and I think we are just going to say we are spending the whole day over at my parents.....

The cookie thing...I'm pretty ok with that...I think that will give DH and I time to get our Christmas shopping done...of course last year she expected me to stay.....but I'm going to just say we need to shop so I don't have to stay there.

And the anniversary and 21st b-day party....I will have migraines for or one of the kids will be 'sick' or hopefully that is one of the work Christmas parties....eff that....yes, its all the same family....we don't need to see them EVERY flipping weekend

  • Wow. That's insane. I don't even know what else to say.

  • Dayum.  I thought I had it bad with my ils.
  • This makes me so grateful that I married into a small Russian, non-practicing Jewish family. No holiday sharing at all!
  • I jut can't get over that. We do Thansgiving with my side. DH likes my mom's cooking better and then we visit his side.

Christmas Eve is with his parents and afternoon with his gma. Then late afternoon at my parents and then the day after for my immediate family.

My MIL is so busy with work, that she doesn't even bake or do anything.

  • Wow. That's right up there with MIL calling SIL on Halloween to see if they were coming to dinner after ToTing. Apparently the other BIL/SIL/kids do that every year so they were expected to be there too. One more reason to be grateful we don't live in the same town....
