Boy Name Help

We haven't decided anything for sure but what name do you like better?

Emerson Scott O______

or

Lucas Scot O________

I know some people see Emerson as a girls name but do you think it is too girly?  I have only known boys with that name so I'm just trying to get others opinions out of curiosity!

Re: Boy Name Help

  • Ive always thought of it as a boys name.

  • Emerson. I don't think it's too girly at all.

Lucas is really really REALLY popular right now, so that would deter me. Plus, my nephew's name is Lucas and already at 18 months, his family nickname is Pukey Lukey. Not cool.

    So it goes.
  • I really like Lucas. But Lucas Scott would always make me think of One Tree Hill. BUT by the time he's older, no one will really remember that.
  • And Lucas Scott makes me think of One Tree Hill.

  • Lucas Scott makes me think of the character on One Tree Hill.  I like both of them equally. Lots of help, right?Wink

  • I've only known Emerson to be a boy's name too. I like both of your choices, but I would probably go with Lucas.

Oh gosh....never heard of Pukey Lukey before...that's awful.

I agree...when we came up with it I was thinking "where have I heard that before" and then I remembered.  But I think that show will die out soon and like a lot of people say, you don't always hear the middle name.

  • I love Emerson but would prefer it for a girl.

Lucas I am not a fan of. I like Luke though.

  • I'm partial...

I have a Luke and love the name.  We've never called him Pukey Lukey although we do call him Lukey Tukey.

I've also only known girls named Emerson so I relate that name as a girls name.

    DD(7), DS(4.5), DS(2.5), DS(baby)
  • I've honestly never heard of Emerson being used for a girl. That's my choice over Lucas though because Emerson was one of our boy name picks. Emerson Scott sounds very "smart".
  • I've never heard the name Emerson, so I don't have an association with either sex. I LOVE the name Lucas though!

  • I like Emerson.  I don't think of it as a girl's name either.  The 2 names we are considering for DS2 are boy's names, however, there are also girls named them as well.

  • Emerson? a girls name? naw... i like both, but have a nephew named Lucas and I dunno I guess I like Emerson better.
  • I like Emerson.

I think there's a character on One Tree Hill whose name was Lucas Scott (Scott was the last name).
