I went into Dollar Tree to pick up some cheapo toys and treats for my 1st graders (for my behavior treasure chest, yes, I am a cheapsake, but I am NOT spending $$$ on 20 children every week .....). Two things happened that makes me want to drink. Oh, and wonder how mankind has been able to survive this long.
1) I was in line, waiting to be rung up and an older woman, probably about 60 or so - with HUGE puffy hair and a GIANT red bow in her hair, on the top of her head nonetheless - went to the checker in the line next to mine with a Christmas candle and .... seriously, asked HOW MUCH it was. SERIOUSLY? No freaking joke. I thought she was kidding at first, really, but she was NOT.
2) When I was paying, I used my Debit card. I scanned it in the little machine and told the guy (about 18-25 years old) ringing me up I used Debit. He said ok, and when the receipt was printing, says to me "So what is a Debit card anyway?" I was all, WTF?. Again, thinking this was a joke too. Nope. I said, "Well, it is like a credit card, but comes out of your checking account." He THEN said, "Oh. How is that different than a credit card?" REALLY?!?!
My head hurts. I need a drink. THIS is why some days I don't want to leave my house.
