Officially putting off TTC

DH and I had originally agreed to TTC in January. Well, it's coming up faster than either of us thought and we're not financially or emotionally prepared. We were apparently both thinking it, but until today, neither of us had said it outloud. We sat down and had a serious discussion about what we needed to do. We came up with a plan that has me going back to work full-time (I had been looking for PT work) and getting serious about paying off our debt. We're going to re-evaluate things in June. I'm hoping that we'll be in a position to try then.

DS has also been a pill lately - to say the least. I've been thanking my stars that I'm not having to deal with him while pregnant or with a newborn. I don't see things getting better anytime soon with the terrible twos hanging over our heads, so I think waiting is best for us in that aspect, too. I think it's best for everyone if there is a full 3 year age difference between him and a sibling.

I'm a little disappointed, but a little relieved. I'm just glad that DH and I actually talked (what a concept!) and are now on the same page. It's amazing what a little communication can do.

We're waiting until debt is paid off as well, and waiting until G can understand commands. My last pg I could barely walk due to my hips and back, and I have to have a toddler that can understand what I'm asking. Maybe we'll be pg together? Hang in there.

That is good that you discussed it and are on the same page.  There is nothing wrong with waiting and trying to be more prepared!  We recently made the decision as well (well, our insurance decided it mainly) that we aren't ttc until the spring, it was orginally going to be Jan. as well.  My LO has been a handful lately and I am kind of happy that we are waiting.  GL to you with the job!

Oh man, I wrote this EXACT same post right before we were planning to TTC (when Jude was 18 months)... we both weren't ready and were so relieved to both talk about it.  Now, a few months later, we're both ready and I feel so much better that we waited!

It is such a relief when you finally come to a decision.  DH and I decided to ttc this summer to shoot for an April, May, June due date (I'm a teacher).  Since it didn't work we've decided that if I'm not pg this cycle, we're holding off until next summer again because for this year, we can't afford for me to go unpaid for the second 6 wks of my leave (we only get 6 wks paid).  It sucks, but I'm also glad that we have a plan in place.

Same here!  We were thinking January, but DH has only worked full time 6 months this year (he's been on 4 day work weeks).  Hopefully in June we can re-evaluate.  I wanted DS and #2 to be closer than my brother and I were in age (4.5 years).  I'm getting pretty comfy with the idea of 3 years apart.
