How bad is St. Ives soap?

i've literally fallen in love with this stuff (the oatmeal & shea butter body wash) and i would hate to bring yet another bad product into my home if i can avoid it. It does say it is free of a few things.... and i'm sure its worlds better than the Dial brand we had been using.

here's what the website says:

  • Made with natural ingredients
  • Contains 100% natural extracts
  • Formulated without Parabens and Phthalates
  • Does not contain animal ingredients
  • Not tested on animals
  • Dermatologist tested

so anyone know the deal? is it made from babies and kittens or something?

Re: How bad is St. Ives soap?

  • i bought some recently on a whim and regretted it when i got home and looked at the ingredients. :(

    SLES is the #2 ingredient

so yes, it is probably better than Dial, but it is not great...

  • Skin deep has it at a 7/10 but it also says that it has parabens so it might not be that up to date

  • eeek. that's no good. :( (the SLS part)

ETA: but after looking at skin deep the ingredients are WAY different than what is listed on my little sample bottle. i wonder if its a new line.

    I am lurking from BOTB.

I work for the company that owns St. Ives.

The ingredients have been changed recently to make it more eco-friendly.

I don't work on the St. Ives products, but I know that they were changed about 3 months ago.
