Sleeping with a blanket

DS woke up this morning at 6:40, which is pretty early for him.  I think he might have been cold.  I was wondering when your DC started sleeping with a blanket.  I have tried to give him one before, but he still moves around so much in his sleep, that he just kicks it off within 15 min. of falling asleep.  I was wondering if I should start tucking a quilt into the mattress, or just wait until he is out of a crib for that.  Last winter, he was still using a sleep sack, but he is too big for that now.  What did you all do???

Re: Sleeping with a blanket

  • DD#1 sleeps with 3 blankets....1 she holds in her arms underneath her, 1 is a little bigger, I cover her with that, and the other is just kinda in there in case 1 falls out..  I cover her when I put her to bed and I cover her again before I go to bed.  She doesnt stay covered though.

  • same as Dani123-ds sleeps with 3 blankets and when it gets super cold he does stay covered he usually doesnt even move from the position you left him and we also bought bigger blankets (almost like the size of a throw blanket) so if he rolls aorund there is still blanket covering him! sometimes he does wake up with no blanket..
  • Yep, I would just keep a couple in his bed. If he gets cold he will cuddle with one.
  • Ditto as all PP.  DS holds 1-2, and we cover him with a blanket, not a sheet.  but he kicks it off.

we put a wall heater in his room to keep his room warmer then the rest of the house.

ditto, this is what we do.......he started about 1 year old, i think........i can safely say he started at 18 months.

  • I started giving DD 1 a light blanket/quilt when she moved into a bed--at 15 months...some nights she sleeps with it on her and some nights she just kicks it off but I always cover her up...
  • Our DD sleeps in the warm flannel type pjs to keep warm.  She has 3 blankets in her bed every night but they always get kicked off of her.  The last couple weeks she has been able to 'semi' cover herself back up though.
  • He's got 2 blankets, but he kicks them off. So we use footie pajamas.

  • DS has slept with a blanket for a long time now.  He knows how to pull it back on him if he kicks it off during the night.
