Its okay, I don't hate Hollyn. You will definitely have spelling challenges and have to repeat yourself a lot. I would assume the name is Holland if you told me over the phone.

My boss has a daughter in her 30's named Hollyn and I just love it! Too bad it sounds horrible with my last name! then again if you love it who cares?!?!
I don't think its a bad name, but I would definitely spell it Holland. If you spell it Hollyn... people will think her name is Holly with an "n" as a typo. I also don't like the whole trend of people adding "y"s to names all over the place.
I have never heard the name Hollyn...I actually really like it! I love the name Holly for a girl, and Hollyn is a nice variation...to me it doesn't sound like one of those far-fetched made up names...I wonder if everyone would go right ahead and shorten it back to Holly as a nickname though.

I actually got the idea because one of my all time favorite students was named Hollyn. I never heard anyone call her Holly, Hols yes, but never Holly...
Re: First thoughts...
First thought--ew.

My first thought was.... Holla'!
Then it was, that the name looked made up.
First though-SUPERFLUOUS Y!!!! Second thought-Why did they mess with a perfectly good name like Holly?
ETA: Since I've heard the (horrible IMO) names Irelyn and Scotlyn before, Hollyn would be a great sibling for these!

Holland, okay. Hollin, eh, but okay.
Hollyn looks like you're trying to name after someone named Holly, but really didn't like how it sounded.
