So Itchy You Bleed

I'm really sorry if this has been posted 4 or 5 times already. I've never had my legs itch so much in my life and it's only when I shave my calves. Everything else I shave doesn't itch and I realize it's winter so skin is drying out but this is ridiculous!

Does anyone have a lotion then can reccomend for right out of the shower freshly shaven legs? Thanks!

  • What ever you use, put it on right out of the shower.

  • My skin has been pretty dry as well, i use skintimate mosturizing shave gel and that seems to help a lot.  B & B works has some yummy holiday scented lotion for afterwards.

  • I use Olay Quench. And I never shave without shave gel.

  • I get the same thing and use Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula For Dry, Itchy Skin... The only problem with it is it tends to be greasy if I put too much on. (might have something to do with the fact that the first ingredient on the bottle is Canola Oil, lol)
  • i have scabs all up and down my legs, like a cat scratched me.  i can't help it, it's so itchy!  i feel your pain, girl.  i'm not diligent with lotion, either.  i really should be.

  • Aveeno Baby.... Apply it when your skin is still wet and let it air dry.

you may want to change your razor too, or maybe consider waxing.

  • I know it sounds strange, but I used hair conditioner instead of shaving lotion for awhile and it helped a lot when I was having skin problems.  Your razor just glides over your skin and doesn't scrape.  That and I use Cetaphil (in the tub with the blue top) afterwards.  It's really thick, but doesn't have any dyes or perfumes that might be irritating.
  • Nivea, Neutragena, Coco Butter, Burts Bees are all good lotions, but my fav is thick without being greasy and doesn't leave a residue - it's Gold Bond lotion (not the gold bond powder company, it's a different Gold Bond company).  It's amazing stuff and out here in the midwest, things get so dry in the winter, we are constatly using this stuff and loving it! :)

By tub I mean it comes in a tub like container, not actually when I am in the tub Big Smile

  • Try an in shower moisturizer! Also, I love Gold Bond Ultimate Healing w/ Aloe. I get the smaller tube of the cream versus the regular lotion. Works great.

  • I shave with baby oil & it has helped a lot with my dry skin since it is a moisturizer itself.

  • Thanks ladies I will try a few of them and do a trial and error. I have switched razors and shave gels a few times so I need to try different lotions.

i do this too, then use vaseline intensive care cocoa butter lotion right out of the shower (after drying off, of course).

  • Mine gets incredibly when I occasionally have an allergic reaction to pollen or dander (I always thought it was dry legs, took me years to figure it out).  Popping a Benedryl at the first itch helps tremendously.
  • i Just bought this shower lotion that you put on and then rinse off right before you get out.. It was amazing and I was not itchy at all except in the places where I couldn't reach to put the lotion.. I think it was Olay Quench, In shower lotion?
  • I've never had much luck with lotion.  I'm itchy either way.  And I've tried A LOT of different types.  The thing that helps me the most is using a sea salt scrub in the shower instead of soap.  That, and I don't shave during the winter anymore (at least not with a razor - I'll go over with an electric shaver every once in a while)

  • I take several showers a day for my job and I've tried every lotion imaginable (well, the ones from the supermarket - I don't make that much money!) and I LOVE Neutrogena Emulsion Therapy (it's in a short white bottle). It's amazing! Good luck...
  • the top of one of my feet itches non-stop! drives me crazy!
