Those who use sleep sacks

Do your LO's hands get cold? We use a footie sleeper under the fleece sleep sack, and his hands are still cold in the morning. We've been keeping the heat on and set to 69 in the house at night, so it's definitely not cold in the house.

  • Yeah, his hands are usually still cold.  Sometimes I flip the sleeves of his PJ's, it has that.  You know, so they don't scratch themselves... also keeps them warm.

  • Yes they do but she has never liked her hands covered.  We could never swaddle her arms in and she used to pull off the little mittens.  So we just try to make sure the rest of her body is warm and the house is at a comfy temperature for her.
  • Yes, but DD is a thumb sucker and would freak out if I put mittens or flipped the sleeves down on her PJ's. I think as long as her face/body is warm, she's ok.
  • Yes she does. I got a sleep sack that has sleeves that go over her hands so I do use that if I think her hands are particularly really cold.

this is my son exactly. We were actually never able to swaddle him b/c he wouldn't sleep at all when we tried. His hands are always cold but during the night they get really cold b/c he will suck on them & then they're wet and colder.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one, then. He seems fine temperature-wise, other than his hands. So I won't worry!

  • LOL...i was just thinking this to myself this morning. My DD seems all warm in snuggly but her poor little hands are freezing in the morning! She too is a thumb sucker so I can't cover them. I figure it's not going to make her uncomfortable having cold hands...at least the rest of her is warm!
  • I asked my pedi about it just to make sure there was nothing wrong. He said that cold hands are completely fine and normal and not to do anything about it unless it was interrupting his sleep.
