Would you tell your boss?

That you couldn't make a 7am meeting because your DH is OOT?  I don't know exactly when DS's daycare opens in the mornings but I am sure it is 6:30.  I just don't see how in the world I would get him to daycare that early.  I can barely get him out of the house in time for me to make it to work at 8am!  The meeting isn't a huge deal so I won't miss anything important but it is somewhat frowned upon if you miss it.  We have them at 7am every 3rd Friday of the month.  I just can't fathom leaving him there at 7 in the morning especially since I would have to wake him up (he wakes up around 6:45).  DH usually takes him to school so it's never been an issue.  I've never had to put work before my son before so I feel kind of guilty leaving him there that early.

I wouldn't get into all the personal details.  Just tell your boss that due to a family committment, you regret that you will not be able to make the meeting on time and will use your PTO if necessary.  Leave it at that.

Unless it is a mandatory meeting that is held each month I would just let him know that you will be unable to make the meeting this month (I am assuming you usually DO make them) do to another commitment.  If it is mandatory then I guess you'll just have to bite the bullet.
