Ginger Bread House party need help

Dh's stepmom is going to have a Gingerbread house party..all the grandkids are going to make houses.. my question is what are a MUST have candy to put on the houses??  and what do you make out of those candies?? Thanks!!

We used to make gingerbread houses every year -- so much fun! 

Gumdrops, peppermint hard candies, mini candy canes, licorice (several kinds like whips, little pieces, regular twizzlers), and marshmellows are the important things to have along with a good icing (one that hardens like royal icing).  Have fun!
