1st Trimester

Weight question

So...3 weeks ago I had what we are assuming was a gallbladder attack.  (spasmy pain in center of my abdomen, chills, vomiting for hours).  I am currently seeing a GI specialist to see what is going on, but in the mean time, I haven't been able to eat much.  I eat a few bites and then I just don't want anymore.  This was the best diet ever until I found out I'm pregnant.  I have lost 8 pounds in the last three weeks.  I am assuming that it isn't an issue considering I am still eating something and I have plenty of fat reserves to resort to.  I guess I just wanted to talk this out with you girls and see if any of you have any advice...maybe the girls that have really bad morning sickness could relay what you heard from your docs about losing weight from not being able to eat.  Thanks!

Re: Weight question

  • you should be fine. Make sure you are still taking a PNV the baby will get the rest of what it needs from whatever you do eat.

  • Many women have difficulty maintaining weight during the first trimester.  You should be ok as long as you are taking your PNVs.  If you are able to keep something down, that is key.
  • I actually had my gallbladder removed last August. Since then I have a condition called gastrointestinal spasms. Mainy if I eat too much or something too greasy or fatty my stomach rejects its and I throw it up. So between that and morning sickness i don't keep alot down some days. I'd avoid anything greasy- your gallbladder helps digest fat- if its not working correctly you will throw up or have diarrhea(still debating which is worse). After my surgery I lost 15lbs.....
