Startle Reflex

When did you LO outgrow this?  Richie always wakes himself up, usually 3 minutes after I put him down.  I have to swaddle him every single time if I want him to actually sleep.

    Keira's startle reflex was barely noticeable be the time she came home from the hospital.  Claire, on the other hand, took forever to outgrow it.  I think I swaddled her until she was almost 7 months old!  I am not joking!  It's the only way she would sleep.

    stella still does this maybe a few times a week but it's less about the reflex & more about a noise she will hear or a loud voice.  She doesn't startle during stroller rides anymore (used to all the time when we would go over a bump).  So I am going to say that she grew out of it around 2.5 months adjusted.

    I read that babies usually grow out of this at around 4 months old.

    Cole is 5 months old 2 1/2 adj. and does this all night long even swaddling doesn't help.  They have this wonderful thing called a woombie it's a safe way to swaddle and they cant wiggle out of it. Our physical theriapist recommend it.  He still startles but it doesn't wake him up when he is in the woombie www.TheWoombie.com
