Gender Predictor Test

DH and I bought an at home gender predictor test at Target. Mainly for fun as I have no expectations that it could be correct. The results say that it is a girl. Has anyone else taken one or even heard of these?

Re: Gender Predictor Test

  • I've seen them. And a few people wanted me to take one but I think it's just kind of a big waste of extra cash that I can use one LO.

  • I have heard of them.  What I've heard though is that they're okay for entertainment purposes but don't bank on them.  Either way, the test has a 50% chance of being right.

  • There is nothing other than an ultra sound that can tell you what the gender is.

Like I said in my original post, I only did it for fun. I am not out buying dresses and painting the nursery pink. I know that the only way to tell for sure is through an ultra sound, I was just curious if anyone else knew they were out there and if anyone else has taken them.

  • You could of just sent me half of the money it cost you to buy the test.

That would be $15, if you really need $15 that badly I will write you a check. Why does it matter how much the test cost?

  • Eh, you did it for fun, no harm no foul.
  • I have not but i think its a fun thing. Something harmless for you and your husband to have a giggle about. Hey sometimes it has to be right! It might have been 100% right for you.So its worth the money.

You had fun right? see ...its worth it.

Some of you girls get too mad about that stupid test, dont buy it. But dont make her feel like crap. I think its great she has the cash and time to. It will make a funny story for when she has the baby. She can show the baby that medical tech has come far or...not.hehe and if it was wrong that makes  the story even funnier.

  • My husband and I did it right at the end of our first trimester because we were just anxious for our big ultrasound.  It was a boy, and still is and I am thirty five weeks on Wednesday.  We saw it as a way to bond with the baby as there really is a he or she in there.  I wouldn't buy too many girl things for now but the test results are approximately 80 percent or so correct.  Good luck with your pregnancy...girl or boy :)
  • I think it sounds like fun!
  • We tried gender prediction( a little wierd I know but, we already have a boy and want to try for a girl).  The method we tried is all about timing so if you believe conception happened on or just after O then it's more likely to be a boy but, if you had sex 2-3 days before O then it's more likely a girl.  I don't think those gender prediction kits are very accurate but, have no personal experience with them.  I kind of take all of it with a grain of salt.  Even the dr isn't always right.

  • We did one and I agree, there's nothing wrong with doing it for fun. Plus theys say the results are 90% accurate in lab tests and 86% in real life studies, however it's very specific instructions so I'm guessing that 4% is people not fully reading directions.

Either way it's a neat thing to do if you have the time and some extra cash. Plus just realize that people used to speculate that the home pregnancy tests were just as "silly" that only a doctor could confirm. (Just saying)
