this is getting humorous

So this time I cut open the Y-cut Playtex-drop in nipple.  It has a big hole, no question about it.  Still, he couldn't get any milk out.

LOL.

He must be collapsing it.  That's all I can think of!

I even made sure the milk was nice and warm so that it would flow better.

Re: this is getting humorous

  • maybe try a firmer (faster flow) nipple, but cut it. I dont' know how firm the y cuts are..

That's just weird. He's going to have to go to a sippy cup!

  • Skylar collapsed her Med Playtex-drop in nipple a few weeks ago.  I moved her to the fast and she does fine now. Not sure if it will work for you since we dont thicken hers but you can always try it out :)

  • so the y-cuts are a less firm material?

    hmmm

next experiment: cut the regular nipple that the bottle came with. it's not a y-cut but I can make my own.

    now I'm on a mission!

    haha!

speaking of sippy cup - I asked the neonat. about trying a sippy cup because I"ve heard of other kids doing it around this age, but he said not until 9 months. I wonder why? Maybe it gets in the way of their bottle feeding? not sure

Skylar gets her juice in a sippy cup and some times her milk but if she really wants milk the sippy is to slow for her and she gets mad :(

  • I'm guessing it's a jaw strength thing since sucking does good things for their jaw, tongue lips etc.

They had us trying a sippy with Robbie at about 4 months adjusted when he stopped eating. Of course it didn't work (he still won't use one) but we were desperate.

  • are you pushing all the air out of the drop-in? DS sometimes forgets to tip his bottle and all the air gets sucked out. then he can't get the milk out.

What do you mean, pushing it out?

I put the milk in the bag, put the nipple/screw on, tip the bottle upside down and feed it to him...
